TRANXENE SD DESCRIPTION:
BENZODIAZEPINES - ORAL

Librium, Serax, Tranxene SD, Valium

TRANXENE SD SIDE EFFECTS:
TRANXENE SD causes drowsiness and dizziness.  You should Avoid tasks that require alertness. Other side effects you might experience from this drug may include: stomach upset, blurred vision, headache, confusion, depression, impaired coordination, change in heart rate, trembling, weakness, memory loss, hangover effect (grogginess), dreaming or nightmares. Call your doctor if you develop: chest pain, a sudden change in heart rate, vision changes, yellowing of the eyes or skin. It's unlikely, but if you experience an allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately. Some of the symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice any other effects that are not listed above, call your doctor or pharmacist right away.

HOW TO USE TRANXENE SD:
TRANXENE SD: You should take this medication with food or milk to avoid having an upset stomach. Take this medication exactly as  your doctor has prescribed it to you. Do not increase your dose or take it more often than  has been prescribed to you.  You may develop a tolerance to TRANXENE SD, which makes it less effective over time.  If you have insomnia,  you should take TRANXENE 30 to 60 minutes before you got o bed.   Do not stop taking TRANXENE SD without your doctor's approval. Your dose may have to be gradually decreased if you have been taking it over an extended period of time.

TRANXENE SD USES:
TRANXENE SD is used to relieve nervousness and tension and can also improve sleep disturbances. It is also used to relieve symptoms of alcohol withdrawal such as tremors.  This drug is also as an anticonvulsant or skeletal muscle relaxant.

TRANXENE SD PRECAUTIONS:
Before using TRANXENE SD,  you should tell your doctor your medical history, especially if there is any history of: liver or kidney disease, drug allergies. Alcohol or other sedative-type drugs can lead to extreme drowsiness.  While you are taking this medication you should always limit any alcohol consumption. Elderly persons are usually more sensitive to the effects of TRANXENE SD. Use cautiously. TRANXENE SD is not recommended to pregnant women. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. This medication may appear in breast milk,  so you should talk to your doctor before breast-feeding.

TRANXENE SD DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor about all the prescription and nonprescription drugs you use, especially: cimetidine, digoxin, disulfiram, levodopa, seizure medication, sleeping pills, narcotic pain medication (e.g., codeine), medication for depression, barbiturates, tranquilizers, sedatives, certain drowsiness-causing antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine), drugs used to treat allergies or colds, alcohol use. Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Smoking can decrease the effectiveness of TRANXENE SD. Do not start or stop any medicine without your doctors or pharmacist approval.

TRANXENE SD OVERDOSE:
If an overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Some of the symptoms of an overdose may include unconsciousness, reduced reflexes, drowsiness, loss of coordination, or confusion.

TRANXENE SD NOTES:
Do not share TRANXENE SD with anyone.

MISSED TRANXENE SD DOSE:
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember.  Do not take the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not "double-up" the doses. If  you are taking this medication for seizures, take the missed dose if you remember it within 1 hour of the missed dose but do not take if remembered after 1 hour has elapsed.

TRANXENE SD STORAGE:
  Make sure you store this medication at a room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 and 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom.
